On its way there are many small farms which can only be reached by boat and take their produce from the farmers. Especially the Finnafjord is in its original form with unspoiled nature, since it is not connected to the road network. Unfortunately, we have no photos of this tour yet. Hove stone church
Hove Stone Church
The Hove Church is one of Norway's oldest castles and is just a few hundred meters from the Hopperstad Stave Church. Around the year 1170 a rich peasant was built as a sign of his prosperity. When in the 19th century the interest in it was lost, one wanted to sell the precious stones to Bergen. An architect named Peter Andreas Blix bought it, saved it from the demolition and restored it to medieval originals magnificently and colorfully. A tombstone in the church ship still reminds him of him.
Norwegian Wildlachcenter
Norwegian Wildlachcenter
The Norsk Villakssenter is located in Lærdal near Lærdalselva, one of the most famous salmon rivers in Norway. Here, wild salmon can be observed in your natural habitat. For those who are interested in fish and in particular for the strong and majestic salmon, the Norsk-Villakssenter is definitely worth a visit. Atlantic salmon as they occur in Norway migrate from May to October in the rivers to lay their eggs in a protected environment. During the stay in the salmon river the wild salmon do not eat. This is a natural protection mechanism for the offspring, because otherwise the salmon would eat their offspring from the previous year. After the oviposition, the salmon return to the fjord or the sea to return next year. Atlantic salmon do not die after egg laying, as is often wrongly assumed.
